India is a young country with the median age of around 26.7 years in 2015 and is projected to touch 28.2 years by 2020 to reap the benefit of this demographic dividend it is important that our youth is imparted with an education that not only allows them to achieve their aspiration but also contribute effectively in enhancing the country’s growth prospects. The report Vision 2030: Universal Health Coverage for all Indian Citizen predicts 1.5 billion population in 2030, India would need 2 million doctors, 1 million specialists, 6 million nurses, 1 million hospital beds. Recognizing the huge gap in the nursing, technicians and paramedical staff, the policy suggests strengthening the health care work force by training to upscale health care profession. Bir Bikram College of Pharmacy (BBCOP) has been established in 2023,to work in focusing the multiple challenges facing the health care industry and help transform pharmacy education to the needs of well equipped and skilled professionals.
